Cab Band Montreal

On November 12th, 2011 Cab took to the stage at Barfly on Saint-Laurent for the launch of their new album “Leave the Porch Light On”.  This atmospheric hole-in-the-wall bar was met by a crowd prepared to celebrate their release. Cab‘s fans along with their friends, family and even some regulars crowded around the stage preparing for the night ahead.

Scott Dunbar opened the night with his one-man-band set.  Dunbar is a passionate singer songwriter with roaring vocals and an obvious political drive that comes out strongly in his music. As a frequent busker on the streets of Montreal, it’s always a pleasure to witness his form of authenticity and soul.  His beatnik attitude and songs made for a stomping set that got the crowd warmed up for Cab.

I’ve been fortunate enough to see Cab play on many occasions over the past two years and they continue to impress me with their onstage rapport and power.  Cab has a grass roots feel that comes out genuinely when they play which is refreshing.  They played all of my favourites,  as well as some new ones from their freshly released sophomore album “Leave the Porch Light On”.  “Sweet Summer” is a new favourite of mine, along with “Man in the Window”.

Cab was accompanied by local Montreal artists Sarah Jane Scouten on Mandoline, drummer Nick Raz (The BCASABones Malones), Pat McLelland (Danny Rebel & The KGBBones Malones) on piano, Marc-Etienne Dahme and Bones Malones on electric guitar.

I strongly urge everyone to buy their new album which is available on their bandcamp and iTunes pages.
